UNS Manaus Centro - 3rd Braz Tesol Manaus

The 3rd Braz Tesol brought us a new perspective of why and how to teach pronunciation in the classroom in a funny and interesting way. The theme was: English pronunciation for Brazilians.

Half of our teachers from UNS Centro participated and there we met Priscila and some teachers from UNS Adrianópolis.

The speaker was Cris Gontow from “Disal Editora”. She has a BA in English Language and Literature from PUC-SP. She has been a teacher and a teacher trainer for over 20 years, and has vast experience in the preparation of materials, including e-learning exercises.

This practical workshop provided us with the opportunity of having a great experience in interactive activities and fun games that we can take straight into our classes.

We all learned how to identify the pronunciation issues that are really relevant to Brazilian speakers, as well learned how to include pronunciation teaching in their daily practice in order to better address these points with this experience, especially new dynamics that go way beyond the mere repetition.

In the end we won some books and bought others to donate to the school so everyone can use it. As the school pays events like this one so our teachers can participate, we thought this would be a great gesture to show that we appreciate and recognize the school effort.
